If you have
ever stepped foot into Ash Cave and felt its
unique ambiance, it shouldn't be a surprise
to find for many hundreds of years,
travelers have visited the
cave before you. In fact, when one of the first
early settler families set up home here,
they found nearly three feet of ashes from
centuries of campfires in the cave. Many an
archeological digs have found the remains of
early Native Americans buried beneath the
sand and graphiti on the wall includes
some of the area's early founders. |

Interestingly
enough, if visitors look closely, they can
see a few remnants of those who came before
them. Take for instance the grooves in
the rocks next to the steps leading beneath
the waterfall. These deep furrows were used
for knife sharpening by Native Americans and
can be seen throughout the cave. |
